Why you should NOT delay Fibroid Removal Surgery (Myomectomy)
Why Laparoscopic Surgery
Less pain: Because laparoscopic surgery involves smaller incisions, it may result in less pain for the patient compared to traditional open surgery.
Fibroids can cause discomfort & pain: Fibroids can cause discomfort and pain, especially if they are large or located in a sensitive area. They can also cause pressure on the bladder, leading to frequent urination, and on the rectum, leading to constipation.
Fibroids can interfere with pregnancy: If you are trying to become pregnant, fibroids can interfere with your ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term. They can also increase the risk of miscarriage and other complications during pregnancy.
Fibroids can cause fertility problems: Fibroids can interfere with the normal functioning of the uterus, which can make it difficult for an embryo to implant and grow. This can lead to fertility problems.
Fibroids can lead to other health problems: In rare cases, fibroids can cause anemia due to heavy bleeding and can also lead to kidney damage if they press on the ureters.
Shorter hospital stay: Laparoscopic surgery often requires a shorter hospital stay than open surgery, as the recovery time is typically quicker.
Faster recovery: Because laparoscopic surgery is less invasive, patients may be able to return to their normal activities more quickly than with open surgery.
Smaller scars: Laparoscopic surgery results in smaller scars than open surgery, as the incisions are smaller.

Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus. Fibroids are noncancerous growths that can develop in the uterus and are common in women of childbearing age.
Small incisions are made in the abdomen & a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) is inserted through one of the incisions to view the uterus and fibroids. The fibroids are then removed through the laparoscope or through small incisions in the abdomen.
A thin, lighted telescope (hysteroscope) is inserted through the cervix into the uterus to view the fibroids. The fibroids are then removed through the hysteroscope or through small incisions in the cervix.
A large incision is made in the abdomen & the fibroids are removed through the incision. This type of myomectomy is generally used for larger or more complex cases.
Heavy or prolonged periods: Fibroids can cause heavy or prolonged periods, which can lead to anemia due to blood loss.
Pelvic pressure or pain: Fibroids can cause pressure or pain in the pelvis, especially if they are large or located in a sensitive area.
Frequent urination: Fibroids can press on the bladder and cause frequent urination.
Constipation: Fibroids can press on the rectum and cause constipation.
Discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse: Fibroids can cause discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse.
Enlarged abdomen: In some cases, fibroids can cause the abdomen to appear enlarged.
